The McClatchy group in North and South Carolina has adapted to the rapidly shifting media landscape by pooling resources and information between publications in the CCI NewsGate Data Center installed at the Charlotte Observer. The Data Center is part of McClatchy´s strategy to enhance news coverage for readers and web users for its seven newspapers in the Carolinas. With CCI NewsGate, McClatchy newsrooms are able to share news coverage, research assignments and content plans, helping make the best possible use of staff resources to cover news events for multiple papers. The group is able to share stories, photos, graphics and active media content, as well as full articles and pages of common interest in areas such as features, sports and local news. A common sports desk has been established across the titles.
