The Orange County Register, the flagship of Irvine, Calif.-based FreedomCommunications Inc., has deployed NewsGate as the technological platform to help realize its newsgathering and production visions. CCI NewsGate has enabled Freedom Orange County to quickly create new products through staff collaboration and the extension of existing content. It has made staff location unimportant, streamlined planning and budgeting, and helped journalists better serve the communities they cover. To serve their diverse communities, Orange County needed an extensive content management system, one that integrated not just with print publishing, but with other publishing platforms as well, including online, broadcast, archival and future, as-yet-unknown technologies. Today, the majority of the NewsGate users in the newsroom work based on an online-first strategy.
