IT Award for CCI Europe

Recognition for a history of contribution to the local landscape

October 5, 2005

IT Forum Østjylland (East Jutland) recently announced that CCI Europe was selected as the winner of “IT-prisen 2005 (The IT prize 2005)”. In reviewing companies eligible for the award the selection committee looked at organizations that “through significant visions, initiatives and results have contributed positively to the IT-development in Eastern Jutland”.

Ms Louise Gade, the mayor of Århus (Denmark’s second largest city), was on hand to award Carsten J. Christensen with the region’s most prestigious IT-prize. In presenting the award, Ms Gade spoke glowingly of CCI Europe’s contributions to Denmark’s IT-Industry for the past 20 years.

“This year’s award recognizes a very special achievement. Denmark’s wealth depends on our ability to develop and establish knowledge companies and knowledge-intensive jobs. The company receiving this year’s award is a textbook example of this in practice.”

“For 25 years, CCI Europe has succeeded in becoming one of the leading players within its line of business. The company’s primary markets are outside Denmark – with customers in Europe, South and North America, Asia and Australia. But the company’s roots in Aarhus are very deep as the company is part of the Stibo Group which was founded back in 1794. CCI Europe began as a traditional “production” company with Denmark as its main market and grew into an international “knowledge” company with a global perspective.

“With 400 employees, CCI Europe is important for the local and regional community. The company contributes to the growth in the it-sector in Eastern Jutland and is ensuring jobs for many people in the it-sector, which in turn is stimulating development in local IT-educational institutions.”

“Through the company’s many customers abroad, CCI is placing Aarhus and Eastern Jutland on the world map making it easier for other companies in the area to become global players.”

In accepting the award Carsten J. Christensen confirmed that CCI Europe is committed to furthering the development of the IT-sector in Denmark to ensure that Danish companies can continue to be at the forefront of IT, innovation and knowledge growth.

CCI has been part of the local it-environment for the past 25 years and has throughout all the years benefited from the many educational institutions in the area such as the University of Aarhus, Aarhus Business College, IT Vest and Århus School of Business.

Mr Christensen concluded that, “CCI is committed to expanding and strengthening our position as a global niche player in a very knowledge-demanding market and to succeed we need all the knowledge and competence which a city like Århus can offer.”
