Event, story, planning and budgeting lists can be made available across the group to keep editors up-to-date and to encourage and promote use of stories in other publications and media.

Extensive access management features ensure control over shared content. This in turn promotes the concept of sharing and collaboration. When the environment is clearly controllable, each newsroom and its staff feel more comfortable in making decisions to share and collaborate.

Shared workspaces allow editorial staff to work together in cross-media teams, reducing overlap and increasing quality. Graphics artists for print, online and broadcasting, for example, can use a common area to brainstorm, share research and create common elements as a foundation for the media-specific graphics which they each will create in the end.

Editors have an overview at story, people, newsroom and cross-newsroom level. This facilitates coordinated coverage across media. They can make the most of available knowledge, news and resources while avoiding repetitive and redundant work.

Virtual teams can work together both at content creation and at planning and budgeting levels, regardless of geographical location or media. 

CCI NewsGate uses media-neutral XML format which can be transformed as needed for different publishing systems. Content can be created and edited directly in NewsGate and later adapted for individual media in other systems without requiring clean-up and redundant formatting and mark-up. News staff can straight away concentrate on using their editorial expertise to enrich the incoming content.
